About this course

A tutored 'Drop in' life drawing session at The Witham, Barnard Castle.

The life classes at The Witham, tutored by Sarah Nelson, use a professional life model from which to draw. These classes, which are open to anyone, from complete beginners to professional artists, encourage expressive free mark making through good observation. Life drawing gives an opportunity to really focus on proportion and shape that actually exist rather than what we think might be. We explore the human figure in relation to its immediate surroundings which help us establish the location and mass of the figure within space.

We work from drawing boards either sitting or standing

Materials to bring

I provide A3 drawing boards and clips. I also have a stock of newsprint paper and charcoal. If you book onto a block you are encouraged to supply your own cartridge paper and materials to draw/paint with.
