Cactus Monotype

Unlike other forms of printing that can be controlled, a monotype or monoprint carries the element of chance, it is unique. I draw or paint onto a smooth non-absorbent surface, place the ‘plate’ onto paper and wind it through the press. Exposing the new print can be thrilling as the actual printing process will always considerably alter the original painting,it’s an exciting discovery and one that cannot be exactly repeated,hence the title ‘mono’.
