About this course

Please note ,this is an Art Talk/Discussion format not a tutored course.

Celebrating her book launch 'How To Enter The Art World, After' Hettie Judah is touring a series of 'After Sessions': spaces for artists to connect, share their work and learn from one another's questions and experiences.

Calling all North East based Artists. Please join Hettie, here at Sarah Nelson Studio, DL13 for an early evening of: Introduction and welcome by Hettie Judah, 4 short, informal presentations by local artists on recent, current and ongoing work, followed by a Q&A with the author, group discussion, book sales and signing.

Refreshments will be served and are included in ticket price. Please note this is a ticketed event to cover costs. There are a few free tickets available for those who really need them (email info@sarahnelsonstudio.co.uk)

Hettie Judah is a writer and curator of the acclaimed exhibition ‘Acts of Creation: On Art and Motherhood’ The author of numerous books on art, she is well known as a critic, columnist and advocate for artists’ rights.

This event is for any artist or people who work with artists whose lives are: complicated, demanding and, well, human. An opportunity to discuss and to ask Hettie about the art world, about her work, about navigating a creative life. Bring whatever’s on your mind.

Afterwards, stay for refreshments and a chat. Hettie will also be selling and signing copies of her new book, ‘How To Enter The Art World, After’ — a myth-busting guide for artists whose lives are complicated and human.

“Vital guidance for all artists. Empowering, encouraging and enlightening.” — Robert Diament, Talk Art

Who are the classes for?

The studio is a space for anyone: beginners who want to loosen up or more experienced artists who wish to bring greater energy and immediacy to their work. My classes are designed to gently reconnect with the joy of making art without pressure or judgment.

Here, art isn’t about being ‘good’ it’s about expression, confidence and finding your own unique way of seeing the world.
